Meet Our Founder
At the heart of Sun Bookkeeping & Consulting, Inc. is our founder and owner, Jaclyn Torrey, whose passion for supporting small business owners stems from her own lived experience.
Jackie’s journey began with a dream of following in her mother’s footsteps as a residential real estate appraiser for her company, Sun Appraisal Co., Inc. Growing up, she witnessed firsthand the challenges and resilience required to run a small business while raising a family. She saw the long hours, the sacrifices, and the deep sense of purpose that fueled it all.
While working at her mother’s company, she took on the task of improving its accounting processes, transforming them for better efficiency and accuracy. In doing so, she discovered a new passion: helping small business owners understand their finances, not just manage them. As she saw how financial clarity could empower her mother, she realized she wanted to do the same for others.
In a pivotal moment, Jackie made the bold decision to let go of her original path and pursue a career in accounting. She earned her Master’s in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, receiving a prestigious scholarship from the Massachusetts Society of CPAs. While pursuing her education, she joined a growing firm outside of her family business. She quickly rose through the ranks, working closely with small business owners to implement streamlined processes, train teams, and develop financial strategies. Ultimately, she became Director of Operations, driving business growth, enhancing client experience, improving employee journey, and overseeing financial health.
Now, with over 15 years of experience in bookkeeping, financial management, and operations, Jackie brings her expertise, enthusiasm, and personalized approach to every client relationship. She understands the stress, uncertainty, and passion that come with small business ownership because she’s lived it. Her goal is simple: to provide not just numbers, but clarity, confidence, and actionable strategies that help business owners succeed.
More Than Numbers: Family, Growth & Passion
Jackie’s passion for helping small businesses is deeply rooted in her own experiences, but at the core of everything she does is family. She married her husband, Mike, a dedicated construction supervisor, on May 26, 2018, in an intimate beach ceremony in Sandwich, MA. Together, they’ve built a life filled with love, hard work, and shared dreams.
Jackie is a proud stepmother to Alyssa and, in June 2021, she experienced the joy of welcoming her first son, Benjamin. Balancing business ownership and family life has given her an even deeper appreciation for the challenges small business owners face of juggling responsibilities while striving for success.
Outside of work, Jackie cherishes time with her family and embraces every opportunity to grow, both personally and professionally. Whether she’s learning something new, helping a business owner navigate financial hurdles, or making memories with her loved ones, she pours her heart into everything she does.
